Die Furka-Oberalp-Bahn überwindet den Furkapass und den Oberalppass und verbindet somit die Kantone Graubünden, Uri und Wallis. Der Bau der Bahnstrecke begann und eine erste Teilstrecke wurde eröffnet. Nach einem Unterbruch in der Zeit des Ersten Weltkriegs wurde die Gesamtstrecke im Sommer eröffnet. Zur Bekanntmachung dieses Ereignisses gestaltete der Tessiner Grafiker Daniele Buzzi dieses eindrucksvolle Plakat als Steinlithografie mit einer wunderschönen Ansicht des erbauten Grengiols-Viaduktes, das in der Nähe von Brig über die Rhone führt. Mit 96 Metern ist es die höchste Brücke auf der Strecke.

The Gotthard railway line was opened in and electrified in by Brown, Boveri & Cie. This beautiful stone lithograph by the Ticinese artist Daniele Buzzi features a picturesque view of a new electric Be 4/6 locomotive crossing the Kerstelenbach bridge, the longest bridge on the northern ramp of the Gotthard railway. This poster is particularly compelling thanks to its bold colouring and a perfect lithography.
