'Malcom Young was the founder and the driving force of AC/DC, a man who possessed what many have called 'the greatest right hand in rock and roll'. That riff-producing mitt provided the muscle behind such signature songs as 'Highway to Hell', 'Back in Black', 'A Long Way to the Top' and many others, helping AC/DC survive shifting musical trends and numerous in-house dramas to stand tall as the biggest rock band on the planet.

Who is Malcolm Young?

Malcolm Mitchell Young is a Australian guitarist best known as founder, rhythm guitarist, backing vocalist and songwriter for the Australian hard rock band AC/DC. He has remained with the band since its November inception barring a brief absence in In , Young and the other members of AC/DC were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Though his younger brother Angus is the more visible of the brothers, Malcolm Young has been described as the businessman behind AC/DC. As the rhythm guitarist, he is responsible for the broad sweep of the band's sound, developing many of the band's guitar riffs and co-writing the band's material with Angus. He is married to Linda Young and has two children, Cara and Ross.

Malcolm Young was one one the most important member of AC/DC. Not because of his presence, show abilities or size.

This is a good question as Malcolm was member of AC/DC band for years. The band is still touring and still have a somebody playing the guitar and who looks exactly like Malcolm with the famous Gretsch Jet Firebird !

Early Life and Influences

Malcolm Mitchell Young was born into a large family in Glasgow, Scotland, on January 6, His parents, William and Margaret, emigrated to Sydney, Australia, in with their children George, Margaret, Malcolm, and Angus, leaving behind their eldest son Alex in the UK. The family settled in Burwood, a suburb of Sydney.

Malcolm's older brother, George, was a successful musician in the rock band The Easybeats, whose hit song "Friday On My Mind" topped the Australian charts. Malcolm was also a talented soccer player and aspired to a career in sports.
