If your house is anything like ours, you probably have books&#;personally owned or library-borrowed&#;filling up your kid(s)&#; room. We have STEM-related and non STEM-related books alike. Many of our STEM books focus on various concepts, but some instead are science biographies my wife and I use to introduce our daughter to various scientists and their achievements.

A few may be more inventors or mathematicians than scientists, but their achievements are no less important. And their biographies have just as much ability to spark an interest for science in kids.

Marie Curie&#;s accomplishments are all the more amazing given the societal roadblocks she had to overcome: being a woman in the late 19th and early 20th century. She was the first woman to receive the Nobel Prize in and helped discover the existence of radium and polonium (named after her native country Poland).
