A Banstead woman who was told that she had survived a stroke by a “miracle” is sharing her story after it struck her 'completely out of the blue'
Dionne Hudson, 58, is sharing her story around World Stroke Day (October 29) via the Stroke Association and hopes that raising awareness of strokes and their early symptoms could be crucial in saving someone's life.
"It was late one evening when I noticed my arm felt heavy," said Dionne. "As I went to reach for my phone, I had the most bizarre feeling in my hand – it’s like I couldn’t reach or grip my phone." Dione's husband, Andy was working away from home and her daughter, Liv, 17 was in her bedroom.
She added: "I remember a voice in my head telling me to try to lift both my arms out and up. As I attempted to do it, my left arm dropped down. I was certain that wasn’t good, but I also hadn’t thought it would be a stroke. I decided to go to sleep and see how I felt in the morning."

On the surface, Brook Parker-Bello has little in common with the hostages kidnapped from Israel and held in Gaza since Oct. 7.
She is an actor, author and activist from Los Angeles who was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Obama White House for her work fighting sex trafficking.
